Coach Nikki here- if you’ve been following along on social media, or if we’ve chatted about nutrition in the past, you’ve probably heard me talk about chia seeds. They’re one of my favorite unusual foods. But honestly, they’re extremely versatile, and they have a ton of wonderful health benefits, Just to name a few:
-They are an excellent source of fiber! In fact, a lot of people report that they feel bloat when they try chia seeds for the first time, since they are SO dense in fiber. But your gut will thank you, I promise! In addition to helping with regularity, foods that are very dense in fiber also help us feel fuller and more satisfied over longer periods of time.
-Chia seeds are also a great source of Omega-3, the “good fats.” Fats are extremely important for your long term health, and among other things can help prevent heart disease and stroke.
-Bonus: If you soak your seeds in water or juice, they get a gelatinous consistency, and are really fun to drink. An easy way to hydrate!
You can soak your seeds, sprinkle them on yogurt, cook them into oatmeal or a myriad of other foods- the possibilities really are endless!
