I have been posting a lot about my schooling because, well it’s what’s on my mind most of the time and my readings basically consume my life. What is so cool about continuing my education whether for my career, health, or experience as a coach, is that I am learning new strategies and approaches that are applicable to my everyday life. In my recent class we have been focusing on different styles of learning. For example, some students learn visually, auditory, through repetition, or with accommodations. In the end, no matter what style of learning works best for you, you are still learning the same thing as the person next to you.
Now I want you to think of it this way. Recently my family has made a redirection in our health. Every single one of us has been considered obese over the passed four years and now as a whole we have dropped over 200 pounds. Here’s the catch, all of our approaches have been different, but ultimately we are getting the same results. My sister began her lifestyle change a year ago by counting calories through the popular My Fitness Pal app and lost 85 pounds over the past year. My mom has been counting “points” through the Weight Watchers program and is down 38 pounds. My dad doesn’t track anything but through the simple change in my mom’s cooking and laying off a few beers he is down 45 pounds in 8 months. Lastly me, I am just shy of losing 50 pounds by counting my macros through the RP app and a whole lotta CrossFit! All of the Wolfe’s still enjoy meals out together, a few drinks, and each other’s company the same way we used to before, but with the help of these technology applications we have more self control and have hopefully added a few years to our life. Moral of the story is what is successful for the person next to may not work for you, but don’t give up and keep trying. Track your foods, be aware of what you’re putting in your body, and kick A$$.
Love Madi 🙂
P.s. If you can’t tell, I am so proud of my entire family and the changes we are continuing to make everyday. So excited for what is to come in 2020!
